Scholarships

The SRG offers several scholarships in an effort to encourage the continuing education of young people with an interest fields relating to the rubber and plastics industry.

The John D. Dodd Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1973 to honor the memory of Mr. John Dodd after his passing in 1972. This award has a value of $1,000.00.

The SRG Endowment Fund Scholarship

Established in 1988 to increase the SRG's contribution to education. This award has a value of $1,000.00.

The Lord Corporation Education Scholarship

Established in 2010 in accordance with Lord Corporation's commitment to promote the pursuit of higher education in the sciences. The recipient of this award is also eligible for future internship programs that the company may offer. This award has a value of $2,000.00.

Eligibility for Awards

Requirements for the John D. Dodd and Endowment Fund Scholarships:

  • Applicant must be sponsored by a member of the Southern Rubber Group.
  • Applicant must submit a high school transcript.
  • Applicant must submit SAT and/or ACT scores.
  • Applicant must be a full-time candidate for a degree at an accredited four-year college or university.

Requirements for the Lord Corporation Scholarship:

  • Applicant must be sponsored by a member of the Southern Rubber Group.
  • Applicant must submit a high school transcript and have maintained honor roll status throughout.
  • Applicant must perfom community service, volunteer work, and/or research associated with the desired field of study.
  • Applicant must submit a letter of recomendation from a math or science teacher.
  • Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor or an adult that has worked with the applicant.
  • Applicant must submit an essay on what science means to them and what they hope to achieve with their studies.
  • Applicant must be a full-time candidate for a degree in the sciences at an accredited four-year college or university. An acceptance letter must be presented in order to receive the award.
  • Recipient must maintain good academic standing during the first semester of college in order to receive the second half of the award. This is defined as an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
